About

Briarwood Crime Watch (BCW) Neighborhood Association is a completely volunteer-run organization primarily focused on safety and crime prevention...with several annual community activities (e.g. forums with community leaders, free shredding event, etc.) thrown in.  If you haven't attended our "National Night Out - A Taste of Lovers Lane" event in the past you are in for a real treat!

Membership in BCW is also voluntary.  We are proud that almost 250 households (of approximately 550 homes) support our mission.  Their support of $400 per year ($200 for seniors 65 of years of age and above) enables us to employ 100+ hours per month of off-duty police patrols.

We have an elected Board of Directors who meet regularly and a dedicated group of Block Captains who provide two-way communication with residents.  Additionally, there is a quarterly newsletter delivered to every home in Briarwood plus email blasts as necessary to alert you to important issues and events.

At a recent BCW-sponsored community meeting in Briarwood, Renee Hall, Dallas Police Chief, described the BCW crime watch activity as a "force multiplier" that has a direct impact on crime prevention.  We are proud of our low crime rate and are committed to keeping our community safe and secure for all.  Please join your neighbors and local businesses by becoming a BCW member today!

Briarwood is bordered by Lovers Lane on the south, Inwood to the east, Horseshoe Trail & Briarwood Place to the north and Elsby Avenue on the west.

The neighborhood was established in the late 1930s by the Elsby family on the site of the former Bluffview Dairy.  The earliest homes were built in 1935 with a real surge in development after World War II.  Back then, bungalows and cottages built for young families were the norm.  Fortunately, many of those charming homes still grace our tree-lined streets!

Today we continue to be a thriving community of new and original homes housing young families, empty-nesters, singles and couples of all ages.  We are fortunate to have Bluffview Park, a great meeting place for young families and dog lovers, right in our own backyard.

Within walking distance, the restaurants and shops along Lovers Lane not only provide great food, shopping and entertainment, but many also support Briarwood Crime Watch and Neighborhood Association.  We hope you will take a look at our "Businesses" link and let them know you are from Briarwood when you stop in!
